The steady downward trend of active cases of COVID-19 has slowed somewhat as recoveries have lowered right alongside the number of new cases. The decline continued today, however, and the streak of days without a death due to the virus extended.

Today was the fourth consecutive day on which the Saskatchewan Health Authority did not report any deaths in patients who tested positive for the virus. They also reported 22 new cases of COVID-19 in the province today for a total of 49,472.

Also today, the SHA recorded 42 recoveries for a total of 48,655, leaving 242 active cases of the virus. This is the lowest number of active cases since October 13. There are 55 people hospitalized due to the virus. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 25, which is the lowest that number has been since October 12.

Today's new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 14; Far North East, 3; North West, 2; Saskatoon, 2. One case has pending residence information while another case that was pending information has been assigned to the Central East zone.

Not only were there no new cases in the entire South East zone today, but Estevan's subzone lost one active case due to a recovery. There are now just two active cases in subzone South East 4. With several recoveries elsewhere in the South East, there are now 12 active cases in the region.

Yesterday, the province processed 1,151 COVID-19 tests. There were also 2,636 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered for a total of 1,353,307. Of those age 12 and over in Saskatchewan, 74 percent have received their first dose, while 59 percent are fully vaccinated.
