Progress is being made on the roadwork and repairs throughout the Energy City, as the warm weather has allowed them to get the job done quickly.

"The 1200 block of Nicholson Road is now open, and line painting personnel are on the streets. It's important that you use caution, obey the reduced speed limits and be aware of construction workers and equipment," stated Helen Fornwald, Estevan's City Safety Officer.

The 1200 block of Nicholson Road has been reopened as well.

A construction site can often be a fluid and dynamically changing environment, and she outlined some adjustments that have been made to the the detour route around the King Street rehabilitation project.

"The route includes the new controlled intersection at Dufferin Avenue and George Street, where north and south bound traffic are required to stop. As well, there is a 4-way stop at the intersection of Henry Street and Dufferin, and Henry and Bannatyne."

"There is also another new controlled intersection that, as of today, all motorists need to be aware of. This is Henry Street and Alexandria Avenue. It's now controlled, and north and south bound traffic are required to stop," she revealed.

"Please be aware that the Henry Street detour route speed limit has now been reduced to 30 kilometers an hour from Dufferin until Spruce Drive, as the road is experiencing heavier traffic flow. The public is requested to slow down and obey the posted speed limits for everyone's safety."

Fornwald also reiterated her point about the work-site barricades, stating that it is a criminal offense to move them. She noted that the Estevan Police Service will be monitoring and enforcing the area.
