"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going." Nowhere is this found to be more true than during a Canadian prairie blizzard, and the communities that come together to pull through.

This last storm was no exception, and members of the Carnduff detachment of the RCMP showed their organization's heroic mettle once again to save a person in need.

"We had a young lady on Tuesday afternoon with a medical emergency," related Sergeant Garnet Waldbauer.

"She is a severe diabetic, and only had enough supplies to treat it to last her into the evening. My guys ended up gathering that stuff and getting it out to her in Carievale, braving the road conditions.

Her father, Lee Stanley said that he tried for hours to get to town. Her spare insulin pump had malfunctioned, so she had no way of administrating the medication. Stanley posted on Facebook, mentioning that she kept some supplies at the Carnduff High School.

The local RCMP dispatcher saw the post, the supplies were gathered, and the brave officers made the treacherous trip in zero visibility.

"They weren't able to get into town, but our friends were able to meet them on the highway. We got the stuff to her in time, and she's healthy and happy," Stanley said.

"It's just amazing the amount of people that were willing to help us. We are overwhelmed with gratitude and can't say enough about how great the people are."

A million thanks to the RCMP," he added.

"It was above and beyond the call of duty."
