Monday night was the beginning of the Saskota Baseball League's final series of the year in the shortened 2020 season. Normally, this would be the beginning of the Harbournne Memorial Tournament, where eight teams from around the league come together in two pools of round-robin play followed by one game playoff rounds until there is a champion.

This year, the tournament would go against provincial restrictions, but a regular three-game playoff would be just fine, and that's where we're at now.

The Carlyle Cardinals and Estevan Taphouse Wolves played game one of the final series Monday night in Estevan to a 6-1 score for the Cardinals, giving them the opportunity to take the series and the championship on home soil.

Kody Rock was on the mound for the Cardinals in the game that was much tighter than the score may tell.

The Wolves and Cardinals will play game two Tuesday night to decide if the Cardinals will become champs for the first time since their six straight championship run that ended in 2016, or if the Wolves will get another chance on their own turf to take their title back from two seasons ago.
