Over the weekend Affinity Place held a three-day Atom Hockey house league tournament.

There were three teams from Estevan and 9 out of town squads from as far as Strasbourg and even a group from Russell, Manitoba.

Sheldon Beatty is one of the event organizers and said everything was set up so each team had a chance at success and that the kids were able to have fun.

"I think they had a lot of fun, it was set up in a way that if you were a bottom team, you ended up getting to play against teams that were at the bottom as well and then if you were a top team you got to play the top teams in each pool."

Three teams took home hardware by the time all was said and done.

The Estevan Predators won the C division, the B Division was won by the Regina Panthers and the Russell Rams took home the A-side championship.

Beatty continued, saying that if it weren't for the city of Estevan and it's residents coming together, there would be no way for events as large as these to take place.

"You can't out a tournament like this on without having the support from the community, donating prizes and donating money to purchase prizes for all of these kids."

He also expresses huge thanks to Amy Lese, who was the main organizer for the event.

According to Beatty among others, had it not bee for Lese the tournament would have never gotten off the ground.
