The Estevan Police Service is advising you to take precaution against potential thieves.

An early-morning-hours report of two people looking through yards in the Westview area spurred the warning.

Const. Danielle Stephany said police patrolled the area but did not find anyone.

She said they do have suspects in mind, "but it's just a matter of locating them in the act."

Stephany said securing your property, including outdoor buildings, is a good step towards not falling victim.

"It would also be a good idea to ensure that the yards are well lit, as that will also deter people from entering the property at night," she added.

This isn't the first time property theft has been a topic in the news over the past month. City police reported an uptick in thefts from vehicles in late May, which had slowed down by early June.
