Habitat for Humanity has broken ground for their project in Estevan.

"Everybody is excited to see the foundation is in place, the footing is in place and then we will be looking at starting some construction likely tomorrow and on Saturday working on the basement and trying to get some of that in place," explained Doug Barnstable the Chair of the Steering Committee for Habitat for Humanity.

"We will be contacting some of the volunteers later today and just trying to make sure we have an adequate number at site to help us out."

They will have a lot of work to do over the next couple of months.

"Our expectation is we'll get the floor and upper framing completed by mid month, we will have doors and windows and the roof to go on. By the end of the month we should have everything closed in and be able to start on things like siding and interior, electrical, mechanical and also some of the dry wall in September, so that's the sort of timeline we're looking at," he shared.

If people want to stop by and check things out they are welcome.

"They can drop by but they should be a little bit cautious as to where they're at so we can show them around the site without giving them any safety issues.

"We would be happy to talk to them if they come by anytime," expressed Doug.

"We are pleased with the amount of involvement we have had and the eagerness people have had to be coming to this site and we're looking forward to working with them on the building."
