The Estevan TS&M Bruins had a few games over the weekend, with the first being an away game against their rival, Regina Monarchs.

“We played Saturday night up there and obviously little rusty. We hadn't played in 20 days and it only played two exhibition games and lost 5-1,” said Head Coach, Aren Miller.

Miller believes that the things the U15 team had worked on for the last 10 weeks weren’t utilized during the game until sometime around the second period when their game-play seemed to improve.

“We had a quick turn around and played yesterday morning and Estevan here and ended up beating them, so kind of a tale of two teams. We were really good yesterday. We played our first 2 periods are really well.”

The head coach also noted that the third period was a little shaky but their goalie stayed strong and allowed the team to finish with a 6-1 win.

“I think it was a combination of nerves and just a long layoff. The whole uncertainty of everything and I think the kids just needed that game to kind of get their intensity back and get back into their groove.”

The Regina team had already played four games compared to the Bruins two played, but they hope that their game coming up this Saturday, November 28, against the Melville Millionaires.
