SaskTel has announced that the city of Moosomin will soon be able to take advantage of fiber-optic internet service.

They state in a release that their InfiNET service will be available in select areas of Moosomin by the end of December.

“As Saskatchewan’s homegrown communications leader, we are thrilled to bring the power of our infiNET network to customers in Moosomin,” said Charlene Gavel, SaskTel President and CEO. “Delivering incredibly fast speeds, our world-class fibre broadband network will ensure our customers can connect to what matters most to them, faster than ever before.”

That's part of their Rural Fibre Initiative, which has targeted rural areas across Saskatchewan to provide faster internet speeds.

Moosomin and other southeast communities, including Carlyle, are part of the third phase of the Rural Fibre Initiative.

"I am pleased with SaskTel’s ongoing efforts to bring more advanced communication technologies to the people of Saskatchewan,” said Steven Bonk, MLA for Moosomin. "This latest expansion of SaskTel’s fibre optic broadband network will create more opportunities for families and businesses in Moosomin, keeping Saskatchewan the best connected province in Canada.”

More southeast communities are included in the future phases of the initiative, with a full list available here.

SaskTel says they will provide information to Moosomin residents on how and when they can schedule their upgrade to infiNET service over the coming weeks.
