A trickle of people eager to try the finest food and drink of the southeast turned steadily into a flood at Affinity Place on Saturday, May 4. Savour the Southeast brought the best of the regions food and drink together under one roof to raise money for the Estevan Family Center.

"I'm super excited about how everything came together," said Brittany Zahn of the Family Center, who had helped organize much of the night. "I'm really happy with the crowd here. Everyone seems to be having a good time and enjoying the event."

From grass-fed beef to Greek chicken to baked goods galore, those looking for food found more than enough to sate their appetite. Those more inclined to try the alcohol found everything from well-known beers like Bud Lite to craft beers and moonshines.

The entertainment came first from DJ Baby Daddy, who also served as the base player for the Johnny McCuaig band. The band took the stage twice and it was the bagpipe-fueled rock and roll that really seemed to grab the crowd's attention.

"They were so much fun," Zahn said of the band. "I can't say enough good things. It's been a really great night."

The 50/50 alone raised over $1300 for the family center. A total is still being compiled as of this writing, but with people streaming in through the doors and lines at every booth, in addition to a packed house at the cabaret after, the Family Center is hopeful they've raised a fair bit of money.

"I'm so happy to see people buy into these nights," said Zahn. "They honestly benefit everybody. The money stays right here in the community, it's a fun night out. There were so many good reasons to come out."

The annual event was in its fourth iteration and first under new management. A full total will be updated soon.
