According to Spokesperson Tania Freedman, that means Canadians are expected to spend a total of $23 billion on presents this holiday season.

 

However, the survey also found that Canadians plan to give an average of nearly $200 to charity.

 

Other things the survey found are that 78% of Canadians would rather spend time with their extended family than go on vacation this Christmas, Canadians will take an average of eight days off over the holidays while one third won't take any time off at all, and Canadians will spend an average of $325 entertaining family and friends.
