Supporters of the Kenosee Superslides didn't get the entirety of their wish today, but the latest news from the owner of the slides, Jan Armstrong, was good for those looking to support the park: the slides have been partially allowed to reopen by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

In a video on the slides' Facebook page, Armstrong happily told viewers his slides had received an inspection on Tuesday morning. Following that inspection, they would be allowed to reopen after getting shut down late last week.

"The long and the short of it is we got our inspection today, and the waterslide park will be open tomorrow," Armstrong said in the video. "There are two exceptions to that. The tube slides... will not be open to the public."

Armstrong went on to add the Bonzai slides, Twister slides, and Kiddie slides would all be open. Anyone who had tickets over the weekend who had not yet gotten a refund would have those tickets honored.

The Superslides were first ordered to shut down last Thursday, August 20, by the SHA after opening for the first time all season in late July. The SHA responded to a request for comment at the time with the following statement:

"The Saskatchewan Health Authority has cancelled the operational license for The Super Slides, located at Moose Mountain Provincial Park," the statement read. "Notice of the cancellation was provided to the owner on Thursday and outlines the public health and safety reasons for the decision, as well as information about appealing the decision."

Armstrong put out another video at the time saying he felt the decision was "based on the feeling of an individual rather than on documented evidence of an expert or waterslide specialist" and vowed to explore his options. An outpouring of support followed, including a Change.org petition that garnered over 4500 signatures.

Armstrong said he hoped to have an update on the Bonzai slides as soon as he could.
