“It’s a diamond in the rough,” said Mayor Mark Doty when asked what he likes best about the Village of Kenosee. “You’re not going to find a more beautiful spot in this part of the province,” he added.

Kenosee Village is nestled in the heart of Moose Mountain Provincial Park. On the banks of Kenosee Lake, the village is surrounded by lush forestry and rolling hills; definitely a different environment than the typical prairie landscape. And that’s not the only thing different about the small village of 250 annual residents this year.

Several infrastructure projects, including the development of a new subdivision and an additional “Green Space” park, are underway in Kenosee. Doty explains that this significant expansion will likely bring more annual residents and provide new housing options to locals. He adds that the new park should be completed this July and has been made possible by the generous support from local fundraising efforts.

Of course, local amenities still include access to Moose Mountain Park features (waterslides, camping, golfing, tennis, and horseback riding, among others), Prairie Dog Drive-In Theatre, and Bear Claw Casino, not far away.

Congratulations to the Village of Kenosee. We salute you!
