The Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) had its 2020 signing day on June 1.

Local football players Nigel Mack 18 and Brennen Stubel 18 got signed on by the Regina Thunder.

Mack said it was a great feeling and very exciting for him and the community.

"I have played football for five years and have been a defensive back, a running back and a wide receiver."

Mack is going to the Regina Thunder as a wide receiver.

"Once I started playing football I liked the family aspect of it. I just love the sport and want to keep playing as long as I can."

Stubel said he has been playing football for two years and has been a linebacker, a safety, and a defensive back.

"Kolby Janssen is playing for the Regina Thunder and he is the reason I got into football. We are housing together in Regina and just gonna go ball out and play football."

Stubel said it was awesome being signed by the team since they were left in the dark for a bit.

"I wasn't really sure what I would do if I didn't make the team so it was nice to know what was going on."

Stubel is going to the Regina Thunder as an outside linebacker.

"Sask Selects is a great program and I think that any football player should try it out. It is a travel roster and you get to go to Texas for the Pigskins Classic. The program is very competitive and I learned a lot about football. That's really how I excelled and that is why I was able to commit to a post-secondary level of football."

Nigel Mack is going to the University of Regina for Kinesiology and Brennen Stubel is going to the University of Regina for Business.
