Three local athletes travelled south of the border this past weekend to compete in the One & Only Pigskin Tournament.

Estevan football players Dane Tober, Mason Lesy, and Dane Hogg all participated in the event in Las Vegas, which ranges from an under-6 division right up to the high school level. It includes teams from Canada and Mexico, along with California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, and Alaska. It takes place every November during the American Thanksgiving weekend.

Tober and Lesy played this past season with the U12 Estevan Chargers, while Hogg played for the U14 Estevan Oilers. They were all in Las Vegas as part of the Sask Selects program.

Hogg's U13 Selects team lost their first game to the Las Vegas Sun Devils before bouncing back to beat the Spartans, a team from Bakersfield, California.

Meanwhile, the U10 selects with Tober and Lesy played three games in the tournament, beating the Antelope Valley Lopes from San Diego before losing to both the Las Vegas Knights and the Cowboys from Anchorage, Alaska.

Hogg played at middle linebacker during the event, Lesy played on the defensive line at nose tackle, and Tober played right tackle on the offensive line.

All three players will continue to train with the Sask Selects program in the coming months and will travel to San Antonio in late February.
