Police identify machete suspect, comment on public-safety concern

A man who was arrested earlier this week for wielding a machete at the Estevan Taco Time will appear in Estevan court next month.

Pruthvisinh Dodia is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on August 14 at 9:30 a.m. He faces charges of assault with a weapon and carrying a weapon dangerous to the public.

Dodia appeared in Carlyle Provincial Court Wednesday and was released with conditions to appear in court next month.

The Estevan Police Service confirmed Thursday that there was never a threat to public safety during the incident, which took place late Tuesday night.
