The Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Hospital have gotten together to honour Doug Third for his services at the hospital.

Executive Director of St. Joseph's Greg Hoffort explains.

"Doug was a tremendous community person as I mentioned, he moved to Estevan in 1949 and spent 31 years as principal of Hillside School. He spent a short time as an assistant superintendent of the school division and then where much of our community will know of Doug, is he became active in funeral services for the entire community."

Third presided over more than 1,000 vigils and graveside funeral services before stopping conducting funerals over a year ago. He now lives in Regina.

"The Catholic Church spearheaded a collection and has made a financial contribution to the hospital in recognition of Doug's service and so we are going to happily unveil what we have on May 28 and the entire community is welcome to a coffee at the hospital at 1 p.m."

What the Surprise will be is still in question, but for those who want to show Doug their support personally be sure to stop by St. Josephs Hospital on May 28.
