A 54-year-old man was killed in a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 13 east of Weyburn Monday afternoon.

Saskatchewan RCMP reported that the Weyburn RCMP received the report of a collision, about 16 kilometres east of Weyburn, around 4:40 p.m.

Mounties say preliminary investigation indicated an SUV was stopped on Highway 13 to make a left turn off of the highway when a pick-up truck crashed into it from behind. The SUV was pushed into oncoming traffic, but did not collide with any other vehicles.

The SUV had two occupants. The adult driver was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The front passenger was declared deceased on the scene by EMS. His family has been notified.

The pick-up truck had two adult occupants. Both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Fillmore RCMP and the RCMP's Traffic Services Unit also immediately responded. A Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Analyst and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service attended as well.

RCMP said that as of Tuesday afternoon, traffic restrictions were no longer in place.

An investigation is ongoing.
