Estevan police say a man was arrested in the downtown area Friday morning for threatening another man with a weapon.

City police and RCMP arrived at the 1200 block of 4th Street around 8 a.m. The incident took place inside a building in that area.

"I can let you know that one suspect is in custody at this time, and police should be clearing the area shortly," said Estevan police chief Rich Lowen. "We thank everybody for their cooperation staying out of the area, and there's no threat to the public at this time."

"We're just in the process of notifying everybody that the area is clear and safe to open up,” Lowen said.
