Local women honored for their fight against breast cancer.

As we headed out to the Midale 39er’s club for their fundraiser to help the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles. The wonderful ladies were greeted by about 50 people in Midale, with a Lasagna lunch to help raise support for Breast Cancer Research. The ladies have already been to 25 communities and have made quite the journey, even with the lack of snow.

With this journey there are many touching stories as a majority of the women have had breast cancer themselves, or have been touched by someone who has had it. Some on the crew have their cancer in remission, while others still battle with this horrible disease.

And to honor those who have struggled with this disease personally, they presented them with a pin to represent bravery in the face of adversity. As well as to remind women in the community that even thought there is no cure yet, the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles will continue to ride and fund research for many years to come.

A few ladies in the small community of Midale stood to receive this small pin, and it shows the fight and determination you need to get through it.

A few of those ladies were Bev Sobush-Melby, and Margaret J. Hauglum who were among those who stood to receive the pin. Creating an atmosphere of honor for the survivors as well as misty eyes.

We could all learn something from such a group of women who would fight for others in such freezing temperatures throughout the Southeast. And continue to do it, even with there own struggles.
