“The community spirit is still strong, it always has been,” Bonnie Rutten shared when speaking on her hometown Redvers, SK, and it shows. Redvers has been one busy community this summer, with Lobster Fest and Canada Day celebrations in July, as well as several capital projects like a new splash park and zero entry pool.

“The town itself is working hard to get our recreation facilities going. We just had a study done on our building that came back really successful, so we’re going ahead with our splash park, which is a big project in town right now.”

She adds that the splash park should be finished by August.

Local service groups like the Volunteer Fire Department and local Lions Club are active in supporting a variety of community initiatives. Bonnie credited the Lions Club with spearheading the work done on the local school playground and notes that the Volunteer Fire Department has gone above and beyond the call of duty by also volunteering to host large community events like the recent Lobster Fest.

Bonnie ended by saying how proud she is to be from Redvers, where people are “all about caring and sharing”.
