The current minimum wage in Saskatchewan is set to take a modest increase this fall. In a release today, the province announced that starting on October 1, the minimum wage will rise from $11.45 an hour to $11.81.

"Dealing with COVID-19 over the past year and a half has been a difficult time for everyone in Saskatchewan," Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said. "The provincial government has a strong framework in place to ensure that we are supporting both businesses and workers as we move into recovery after the pandemic. As life returns to normal, sustainable and predictable increases to our minimum wage help ensure that everyone will be able to benefit from a strong and growing Saskatchewan in the future."

According to the provincial release Saskatchewan's minimum wage is reviewed annually and is calculated using an indexation formula. The formula gives equal weight to changes to the Consumer Price Index and Average Hourly Wage for Saskatchewan.

The province also said they have raised minimum wage by over 48 per cent, since 2007 over the course of 13 separate increases. Saskatchewan's current minimum wage is the lowest of any province or territory, though this increase would take it past New Brunswick, where the minimum wage is $11.75.
