SaskPower is extending the layup period for Unit 4 at the Boundary Dam Power Station.

In a release, they say that the extension is to provide more options to ensure Saskatchewan’s electricity grid has enough power in case of unplanned events or greater-than-anticipated demand.

Unit 4 will be kept in a layup status until March 31, 2024, or until Great Plains Power Station goes into service.

Meanwhile, Unit 5 will be kept in a layup status until Unit 6’s planned retirement date of December 31, 2027, when its condition will be reassessed.
