The Southeast Sun Devils U16 softball team is looking to continue their stellar postseason run after placing on the podium in provincials and winning both single-elimination games this week for playoffs.

The team Received bronze medals for their 3rd place performance during provincials over the weekend, ending with a record of 4-1.

They then carried that success into the playoffs, which had the first two elimination matches take place on Monday and Tuesday.

In the first game, the Sun Devils played the Regina Royals and took the game 8-7, moving forward in the playoffs.

The second game on Tuesday had their face off against their rivals the Regina Saints, a team that had easily beaten the Sun Devils earlier in the season.

Despite the earlier history, coach Morgan Walter said they performed admirably.

"We played last night and won by a few runs, it was 13-7, and that was a big moment for our girls because the Regina saints are a team that we had lost quite easily to during the regular season," said Walter, "Being able to pull off wins against a strong team says a lot about where we've come overall as a team for our development over the season."

Now, the team is facing the Moose Jaw Ice on Thursday, in their last challenge before the league finals.

Walter says she's confident her team can get through them, so long as they play the same way they've been playing this postseason.

"I'm not worried one bit. Our record with them is we've lost three times and won once against them, but I don't think we should be worried in any way," said Walter, "We're playing at our peak right now, we're at where we need to be for playing at this level of the league right now. I'm not worried one bit, we keep this momentum going and the girls keep playing at their highest level I think we can walk away with another win tomorrow night."

The League playoff finals are currently scheduled to take place next week.
