After an impressive regular season that saw the team win 25 games, the Southeast Twins U18 AAA baseball team is preparing for provincials this weekend in Saskatoon.

"We had a practice last night, we've got our last one tonight as well," said Head Coach Blair Beck. "For us as a coaching staff, it's just figuring out lineups for our team and taking a look at what other teams have to offer, and trying to get everybody to be their best this weekend."

The Twins finished in first place in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League with a 25-5 record.

"We had circled this weekend on our calendar right since the start of the year, and with a really good regular season we're real excited for how this weekend plays out for us," Beck said. "I think we go in with a good amount of confidence knowing that we had a successful season, but we also go in knowing that we're going to play really good ball teams looking to take us down, so that makes for a fun weekend."

The provincials run this Friday to Sunday. There are eight teams competing with two pools of four. The Twins are grouped with the Saskatoon Giants, Regina Wolfpack, and the Regina White Sox.

"In this league, it's all good teams. The Saskatoon Cubs are coming back, they were provincial champions last year. And East Central Red Sox are in third place, and they were the semi-finalists last year," Beck said.

The top two teams in each pool will advance to the playoff round. The winner goes to nationals, while the second place team goes to westerns.

The Twins kick off their tournament Friday afternoon against the Saskatoon Giants.
