The Sun City Prop Busters R/C Club of Estevan is gearing up for their Annual Static Event, set to take place tomorrow, April 13, at the Estevan Market Square.

With a rich history dating back to 1988, the club has been a hub for radio control enthusiasts, boasting a diverse membership spanning from youth to retirees. Arthur Dougherty, the club's longstanding president, shares insights into the event and the club's mission.

"We're primarily a flying club," Dougherty explains. "We build flying model planes and drones and we also have an in-development race track that we're going to get involved in with the RC racing trucks and cars."

The Annual Static Event serves as an open invitation for the community to witness the club's passion firsthand. Dougherty describes it as "kind of like show and tell; we display our planes and trucks and different things people have amongst our club members."

In addition to the static displays, the event features a flight simulator, offering attendees a hands-on experience of what it's like to pilot a remote-controlled aircraft.

"We encourage families to come out," Dougherty emphasizes. "It's a fun sport and it's something that's very creative and it has the challenge of flying, and it's just fun."

Looking ahead, Dougherty mentions the club's plans for outdoor events, including a "fun fly" scheduled for August. These events provide opportunities for the public to witness the club in action and potentially join in the excitement.
