Labour Day Weekend starts tomorrow and the weather is going to shift from warm to cold as the days pass by.

Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Sara Hoffman, said that it will start off quite nice and then end of well below normal.

"On Saturday we have an upper ridge over most of the Prairies forecasting a day time high of 28. On Sunday a low-pressure system will form in Southern Alberta and move towards the Prairies so Sunday we will have strong gusty winds and rainfall."

Sunday night it will drop to 4 degrees from the day time high of 20.

"Monday will be well below normal temperatures. A day time high of 11 degrees which is 9 degrees below the normal for this time of year."

There is a chance of frost Monday night into Tuesday morning with that passing cold front.

"This will be quite an active cold front coming through, so if you plan on driving Sunday night you might want to check conditions before you go out."

Hoffman added that we should all be weather aware and enjoy the long weekend.
