The Super Slides near Kenossee lake will continue to be closed as the Saskatchewan Health Authority has not given the business a license to open.

While most businesses were allowed to open early in July as restrictions lifted across Saskatchewan, The Super Slides remained closed.

The Super Slides did an assessment in a partnership with Saskatchewan Polytechnical to inspect their slides, though that seems to have not helped.
The park has since missed out on nearly half of their busiest season and has missed two long weekends, which they say is the busiest time of year for them.

President of ICM Amusement & Entertainment and owner/operator of The Super Slides Harvey Armstrong says the facilities are as safe as can be.

"In the nine years that I've been here we've had excellent accident rates, they've dropped every single year," said Armstrong, "Last year we were below 15 incidents in the park and none of them were slide-related and serious enough that anyone had to get medical attention."

Armstrong says that the SHA have been lenient before, so long as issues were fixed before the license was given out.

"In the past, it's always more or less been a courtesy or policy," said Armstrong, "They would come out, they would do the inspection, and if there was a deficiency they gave us the opportunity to correct them and once they were satisfied that everything was good we were issued our license."

In response to the park remaining shuttered, there were multiple petitions set up online to try and pressure the health authorities into giving the license.

Armstrong says that seeing the support they've been getting has been overwhelming.

"I understand how people want to help us, and we really appreciate it, but what it boils down to is us and the Saskatchewan Health Authority coming to a mutual agreement," said Armstrong, "We feel our part has been made; we feel we've done everything in our absolute power."

Armstrong says that even if they can get a license, they're unlikely to be open at all for this year.
