UPDATE:

The Highway Hotline has listed highways in the Estevan area as closed, as of 6:02 a.m. Saturday.

The snow is expected to taper off Saturday evening.

”If you do travel and become lost, remain where you are until the blizzard has passed,” said Environment Canada in its blizzard warning. “Protect yourself from wind, cold and disorientation by staying sheltered, indoors or with your vehicle. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.”

Travel was being advised against in the Estevan area as of updates to the province’s Highway Hotline posted shortly after 8:30 p.m.

And highways were being shut down around Weyburn around 9:30 p.m.

Close to a foot - or 30 centimetres - of snow is expected to hit the southeast by the time the storm moves out Saturday evening.
