A woman using stolen credit card numbers to buy lottery tickets in Swift Current has been arrested.

The Swift Current City RCMP caught 36-year-old Joanna Scholz at a hotel in the city on Monday night, the same day a Saskatchewan Crime Watch notification regarding her was issued. Police also performed a search warrant on her hotel room uncovering more vital information linking her to several other fraud incidents in other jurisdictions. 

She faces four counts of fraud under $5,000 for her actions in Swift Current. The Ryley, Alta., woman also faces one count of fraud over $5,000, three counts of fraud under $5,000, and eight counts of failing to comply with probation stemming from incidents in Lloydminster.

Scholz appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court Tuesday and has been remanded into custody with her next court appearance set for January 24.

Investigators believe she might have committed similar crimes in other communities in southwestern Saskatchewan and Alberta and are continuing to investigate.
