A weather system is coming to the southeast this weekend, threatening to bring some rain that could stymie producers.

While the exact forecast has changed as the system approached, the fact that rainfall is likely has not.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang details just what the southeast could see.

"There's a weather system that's coming up and sort of spinning around South of the border. Not all models have it coming across the border, some have it heavier than others and some don't even have it coming across the border at all. So I think we'll be showery on and off."

"Looks like it'll start on Saturday. We may see a few showers tomorrow, but nothing to write home about. It looks like Saturday probably the. wettest day, but not a lot of moisture is expected over those days, if any, just because of the way the models are trying to handle this. If it pushes North, we'll get more rain, if it stays South, then there won't be much at all."

Any storms that do come over the border are expected to be calmer than what was seen over the summer.

"It doesn't have the embedded showers or thunderstorms that we usually see in the earlier parts of the summer, but we failed to see them this summer unfortunately. It is one of those weaker systems just spinning itself around, but there's just not enough moisture in it quite yet. September and October tend to be really dry months across the prairies so it's hard to really squeeze moisture out of those systems.”

While moisture is on the way Lang says it'll likely be a while until we see any snow or any other frosty weather.

“There's nothing appearing on any of the long-range forecasts that are showing any kind of big cold injection coming along from the North. Still really quite warm up north still, which is of course still keeping those fires going, which is continuing to bring the smoke and that type of thing so we have a ways to go yet.”
