Southeast Saskatchewan may have a new favorite hockey team after tonight. Following the selection of former Estevan AA Bruin Cale Fleury in the expansion draft, the Seattle Kraken went back to the Carlyle well to select his brother.

Haydn Fleury was the Kraken selection from the Anaheim Ducks. Fleury spent most of last year with the Carolina Hurricanes, the team that originally drafted him 7th overall in 2014, before being moved to the Ducks.

After moving back and forth between the NHL and the AHL's Charlotte Checkers for several seasons, Fleury moved to the big leagues full time in 2019-20, playing the entire shortened season with the Hurricanes. After 35 games with Carolina this season, he was sent to the Ducks, where he posted two goals and an assist in 12 games.

In the expansion draft, the Kraken are permitted to select one unprotected player from each franchise, with the exception of the Vegas Golden Knights. They will hold the second pick overall in the NHL entry draft on Friday.
