The 2017 Estevan Kinsmen Club Volunteer Coach of the Year went to an outstanding member of the hockey community.

Head coach of the Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins, Blake Jamieson coached his team to a very successful season on and off the ice.

Captain of the AA Bruins Brady Wong put together the nomination, showing the great player/coach relationship he built with the kids.

"It was quite a surprise, its nice that the players think that much to nominate me," said Jamieson.

"It feels good to push players and see them succeed," he explained on why he does what he does. "You try and put estevan on the map with guys moving on to the next level."

"Its something thats a good hobby and I enjoy doing it,"Jamieson added.

Highlights of the year include winning the "A" final in the Kelly Dmyterko Memorial Tournament, finishing first in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League's midget AA division and taking on the Notre Dame Hounds in the SSMHL final.
