It's been a major year for Estevan's Hunter Eagles in the world of high school football. Joining the ECS Elecs in Grade nine, he quickly became versatile on both sides of the ball as running back and linebacker. He was selected to take part on provincial teams for the Selects, the Pigskin Classic and, most recently, Team South Sask at the Eastern Challenge in Guelph Ontario. They returned with a silver medal after falling to Quebec in the final, and Eagles himself was chosen as the tournament's Defensive MVP.

"It was a big surprise, actually. I though one of my friends was going to win it, the one that got two game MVPs, so he did extremely well too," he said upon returning home, "But, it felt great when my name was called."

His dual role on offense and defense didn't come about immediately, as he explained that he spent quite a while pleading his case.

"It started in bantam, I guess. I just felt like playing running back for one of the games, and I kept bugging my coach ever since then. For one of the games, he put me at running back, and from Elecs, I've just been playing both."

He reflected with positive thoughts on his first year with the team, and ditto when gazing forward at the upcoming season.

"I feel like we should have a good season. We've got a bunch of new guys, and hopefully we can get a couple of wins, that'd be nice. I'm really looking forward to it."
