Logan King, a member of the Estevan Trap Club, is no stranger to hardware. A frequent competitor at the provincial level, he added to his already impressive resume over the weekend at the 2019 Provincial Trapshooting Championships in Calgary at the Calgary Firearms Centre.

According to the Estevan Trap Club, King won the Alberta Provincial Handicap Championship Open and the Alberta Provincial A Doubles Open Championship. While he was there, he also came out the winner in the High All Around Class A Championship and the Junior Gold High All Around Championship.

"In each event, you shoot about a hundred targets," King explained. "If you hit the most targets, that's what you're looking for."

King is no stranger to the podium at provincial events. In July of 2017, he won Saskatchewan's provincial traphooting competition in Regina, and was named to the all star team at that event. Last year, King brought home six trophies from the provincial championships in Swift Current. Earlier that season, King also won the Canadian doubles championship in Brandon. He's not tired of the winning yet either.

"I'm looking for more," he said. "I want to keep going to provincials and try to make nationals next year in Edmonton, and keep going from there. There is also a Grand American in Illinois that I hope to get to one day, but that might be a little bit in the future yet."

In trapshooting, a clay pigeon or other target flies away from the shooter, rather than across their field of vision as it does in skeet shooting. King has been a championship caliber shooter going as far back as 2016, when he won the Saskatchewan Amateur Trapshooting Association junior championship.

"I got into it through the Estevan Wildlife youth camp," King explained. "I got introduced to it there and fell in love with it, and I've been doing it for the past six years."

King and his fellow traphsooters have events in Swift Current, Regina, and Brandon to round out the season. They will be in Swift Current from July 27-28.
