The Estevan Police Service had a number of reports over the weekend, starting on Friday.

  • A report came in of a loud noise at an apartment in the central part of the city. Members attended and spoke with the resident who was warned of the bylaw.
  • Report of a loud vehicle in the north part of the city. Members attended and spoke with a male who was working on a vehicle who was warned of the bylaw.
  • A vehicle stop resulted in a male testing positive for THC on the roadside screening device. He was issued a 72-hour driver’s license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 3 days.
  • A male was arrested for breaching the conditions of his release. He was lodged in cells to be taken before a judge.
  • Police were called to a local restaurant regarding an intoxicated male. Members spoke with the man and ensured that he was not going to drive while impaired.

On Saturday, reports also came in with some violence occurring in Estevan.

  • Police are still investigating a report of 2 BMX bikes that were taken from a yard on 2nd Street.
  • A traffic stop resulted in a female driver testing positive for THC on the roadside screening device. She was issued a 7-day driver’s license suspension and a 7-day vehicle impound.
  • A report was received of a confrontation between two individuals in the central part of the city. A statement was obtained, and the offending party was warned for their actions.
  • An assault was reported that took place in the downtown area of the city. The matter is under investigation.
  • A report came in of loud music at an apartment in the downtown area of the city. Members attended and spoke with the resident. The music was then turned off and they were warned of the by law.
  • A report was issued of an individual not paying the full fare for their cab ride. Members mediated a resolution.

Constable Jeremy Taman reported some of the calls they received on Sunday and into the week.

  • At around 5:30 Sunday afternoon, EPS members executed a search warrant on the 1700 block of 7th Street. They located stolen property which was seized and returned to the owner. Charges are pending on the individuals involved with the file.
  • A complaint of property damage came in which saw multiple windows smashed out of an apartment building. After investigating members found that two youths had caused the damage, they and their parents were spoken to, with the investigation still underway.
  • In the early hours of Monday morning, EPS members were called to the scene of a female who had been severely beaten on the 400 block of 12th Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an altercation, with two individuals being arrested and charged with aggravated assault following an investigation. EMS took the victim to Saint Joseph's Hospital and is currently under medical care.
