Thanks to Tom Copeland with the TS&M AA Bantam Bruins for joining us on Sun102 Thursday morning to talk about an important day in Estevan this Sunday, February 11th.

Submitted Background: On January 8, 2018, our long time assistant coach and friend Mike Sarada died in a tragic accident near Estevan, SK. In his honor, the Estevan TS&M Bantam “AA” Bruins are hosting an event on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

The “Mike Sarada Memorial Day” event will be a celebration of Mike Sarada in our community and to show his family how much we appreciated him. In his honor, we are also using the day to raise funds to build the “Mike Sarada Athlete Education Center”. Funds raised from the event will be used to purchase all necessary technology & equipment to allow proper video analysis and teaching for the athletes in Estevan Minor Hockey, and where possible, other athletes wishing to utilize the space for their needs.

This includes but is not limited to Smart Boards, Video Camera for the Affinity Place and Power Dodge Ice Center & proper seating and lighting. It is also proposed the Education Center be capable of hosting small player meetings, and act as a coaching lounge where coaching materials and aids can be stored and accessed.

This type of space is a much needed upgrade for Estevan, particularly as we look to promote excellence in our high performance programs. The center will be managed by the Estevan Minor Hockey Association and be for the responsible use of all member teams.

MIKE SARADA MEMORIAL DAY ITINERARY

2:00 pm: Mike Sarada Memorial Game
This Memorial Game will be rosters made up of Mike’s former teammates, friends and family. Any interested individuals are asked to contact any member of the Souris Valley Sioux Hockey Club.

4:00 pm: Estevan APEX Midget “AA” Bruins versus Weyburn

7:00 pm: Estevan TS&M Bantam “AA” Bruins versus Weyburn

This game will include a pre-game ceremony dedicated to Mike’s memory and legacy. Details to follow.

Fundraising Event
All funds raised are being used towards the development and construction of the 'Mike Sarada Athlete Education Center'

Admission: Free

Donations: Donations will be accepted in the period leading up to, the day of and after the event. Any and all donations over $100 will be recognized on a donor board within the center.

50/50 - We will be running full day 50/50 event. Details to follow.

Silent Auction Event - Opens: 2:00 pm, Closes: 9:00 pm
