TOM COPELAND:

Unbelievable community support was shown this past Sunday, February 11th for 'Mike Sarada Memorial Day' at Affinity Place!

A day to honour the former assistant coach of the TS&M AA Bantam Bruins who tragically passed away suddenly in January, there has been nothing but positive comments from the community on what a tremendous celebration for Mike the event turned out to be.

The day also turned into an amazing fundraising opportunity that could both honour Mike's Sarada's legacy and make a positive future impact on our local sports community.

Early indications are that the day raised over $30,000, a number that could still climb closer to $40,000 when all is said and done. The proceeds will go towards retrofitting Affinity Place and the Power Dodge Ice Centre with cameras and creating the 'Mike Sarada Athlete Education Centre'. The initiative is currently in the discussion phase with City Council.

Thanks to Tom Copeland for once again stopping by Sun102 and sharing the uplifting news!
