In a letter sent to the federal government, Mayors of border communities across Canada are asking for the government to drop all testing requirements for all fully-vaccinated travelers at the Canada/US land border.

Included in that letter is Estevan's Mayor Roy Ludwig, as well as Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy.

The letter states that border communities have been bearing a heavy price as the border has been closed to all but essential travel for 20 months.

It also states that "The border remains under very strict testing guidelines that are not justified by current science and are out of line with public health officers’ mandates."

According to the letter, while the public health minister has said the border policies are under constant review and consideration, department officials are telling border industries that they will not be reviewed until after March 2022.

They ask for testing at land borders to be ended and call on the government to remove that policy quickly.
