Orpheum Theatre is offering free movies to celebrate their 110-year anniversary this weekend.

“For our 100th, we had movies from every decade and even showed the first "talking" movie the theatre ever showed.  We also had some silent movies with live accompaniment - we aren't doing that this time, but we do have a variety of films from different decades - hopefully something for everyone,” said theatre owner, Jocelyn Dougherty.

To kick off the celebrations on Friday afternoon they will screen The Rugrats Movie 1p.m. This movie was chosen as the original release was during the first year of Dougherty's owning the theatre. The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, which is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, will also be available for viewing.

Friday will be the only day that Forrest Gump will be screened. The fan favourite is celebrating its 30-year anniversary this year.

Throughout Saturday and Sunday E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Back to the Future, Wayne's World, and Cheech and Chong's first movie Up in Smoke will have multiple screenings.

“It will be great seeing these movies on the big screen again. It will be amazing to hear some of the soundtracks with our 7.1 surround sound,” said Dougherty, “Forrest Gump has such great music throughout the entire movie and of course Bohemian Rhapsody in Wayne's World.”

She noted that they will also be showing the new Godzilla x Kong movie, but that will be with a regular admission price.

The 110th customer each day (Friday to Sunday) will recieve a "swag" bag with some promo items different movies as well as some gift certificates for the theatre.
